AgFirst earns Columbia Chamber’s Workforce Development Award
AgFirst Farm Credit Bank has been recognized as a leader in workforce innovation, receiving the Workforce Development Award from the Columbia Chamber of Commerce.
Presented on Dec. 10, this award celebrates organizations that go beyond the ordinary by implementing creative strategies to attract, develop and retain top talent while fostering an inclusive, resilient workplace to meet the evolving needs of the Midlands.
“AgFirst’s commitment to cultivating talent and strengthening our region’s workforce exemplifies the forward-thinking leadership that moves Columbia ahead,” said Carl Blackstone, Chamber President and CEO. “Their dedication to developing people and expanding opportunity makes them a deserving recipient of this year’s Workforce Development Award.”
At AgFirst, people aren’t just part of the business – they’re the foundation of its success. The bank’s approach centers on creating a culture of care, opportunity and belonging so employees thrive and teams excel. This commitment comes to life through programs designed to promote growth, engagement and well-being, including:
- Listening and acting: Regular employee surveys and check-ins to continuously improve the workplace experience.
- Engagement beyond the desk: Volunteer opportunities, agricultural tours and lunch-and-learn sessions that connect employees to the community and the ag producers in our area.
- Leadership development: Mentoring programs, LinkedIn Learning access and educational assistance to prepare future leaders.
- Comprehensive benefits: Equitable pay practices and robust health and wellness offerings – from an onsite fitness facility and annual flu shots to mammograms and an employee assistance program.
- Building tomorrow’s workforce: Internship programs that provide hands-on experience and ensure a strong talent pipeline.
“Inclusive workforce strategies are the foundation for success, innovation and a true sense of belonging,” said Marion Harris, AgFirst CEO. “We’re proud to build a winning culture where talent thrives and every employee has the support to reach their full potential.”
